Floral Bliss #31

The old Bourbon rose Louise Odier is the most delicate of my roses.
Poor Louise freezes every winter so that only two or three stems are left.

But in the summer Louise grows vigorously and delights me with a few flowers.
Behind it is growing the clematis Warzawska Nike, but it is still in bud.

Many times I have thought to dig the whole Louise away because it is
so thin and no delight for the eye.
But its few blooms are beautiful, so worth keeping?

    Edith

    1. Thank you dear Edith for believing in my Louise! The fact is that I have not given it good care because it has been so sad looking. I'll start to cherish it now, giving autumn fertilizer to strenghten it and mulching, and even figuring out some winter 'Schutz'. Let's wait for the next summer if my poor Louise turns out to be a beauty queen of roses :) Wishing you a lovely evening.

  5. It is strange but when it comes to this kind of roses I think the buds ads so much to the overall beauty of the flower. :)

    1. Thank you Heidi for worrying about Louise. I meant a special fertiliser that prepares plants for the winter. This fertiliser does not accelerate growth but strengthens. I am sorry, don't know the correct term neither in English nor German.
